Akihiro Taniguchi (born 1940) was a Japanese yakuza criminal affiliated with the Shibusawa-gumi family of the Tojo-kai during the 1980s. On the night of 17 December 1988, he was sent by Keiji Shibusawa to capture Makoto Makimura before she could escape Osaka with Kazuma Kiryu, and he and dozens of other Shibusawa henchmen tracked them down to a construction site outside the city. There, they confronted Makoto and Kiryu, but Kiryu single-handedly took down all of the Shibusawa men and escaped with Makoto.
