Akbar Junus al-Yemeni (18 June 1982-25 October 2014) was a leader of Salafi militias in southern Yemen during the insurgency in the region.
Biography[]
Akbar Junus al-Yemeni was born on 18 June 1982 in Sana'a, Yemen, to a Sunni Muslim family. During the civil crises in Yemen in the 2000s, he formed his own militia in the Sarawat Steppe and fought against the government forces, causing him to be added to a list of terrorists on the FBI's most wanted list. He was killed in a special operation by United States in 2014.
