
Akbar Hussein al-Iraqi (6 October 1972-11 August 2010) was a general of the Iraqi Army during the Iraq War. Hussein was killed in Baghdad.
Biography[]
Akbar Hussein al-Iraqi was born on 6 October 1972 in Kirkuk, Iraq to a Catholic family (one family of the 4.9% of the population). His father Yusuf Hussein al-Iraqi was actually born in Armenia, and his mother Fatima Siwah was born in Iraq. Akbar was educated at a military academy in Baghdad and became an officer in the Iraqi Army during the Gulf War of 1991, serving as a sergeant. Hussein later became a general after the overthrowing of Saddam Hussein and he was appointed as the commander of the Iraqi forces in the Sadr City neighborhood of Baghdad, the capital. On 11 August 2010, he was assassinated by Yusuf al-Ruwayshidi and Mohammed Yusuf al-Bakr in an attack on the police headquarters - he was gunned down through his windshield as he left the garage.
