Aikaterine Amalfinos (born 753) was the daughter of Doge Leon of Amalfi and the wife of Doge Giovanni of Venice.
Biography[]
Aikaterine was born in 753 to Doge Leon of Amalfi, and she was from the House of Amalfinos, a dynasty of Catholic Greeks. In 769 she was arranged to marry the son of Doge Maurizio of Venice, the future Doge Giovanni of Venice. She became the dogaressa when her husband rose to become Doge. In 770, her husband made her the spymaster of the House of Galbaio, giving her a shed of a good opinion about her husband at last. As spymaster, she had a role in the assassination of Doge Teodato of Venice.
