Ai Uehara (1966-) was a Japanese woman who worked as a hostess at Club Mars and Club Sunshine in Dotonbori, Osaka during the 1980s. She was the star hostess at Kunitaro Hino's Club Mars during the 1980s, and, in January 1989, she was sent to Club Sunshine to deliver a hostile message from Hino to Sunshine's manager Goro Majima. Majima saved her from a gang of disgruntled former Club Mars customers who attempted to take out their anger of being destitute on Ai, and Ai became interested in joining Majima's club. After the unethical Hino was defeated in a business battle by Majima, an angry Hino blamed his defeat on Ai and fired her, before going on to shutter his club and go into hiding. Majima then employed Uehara at Club Sunshine, where she became one of his star hostesses.
