Ahsanullah Khan (died September 1932) was an Indian Imperial Police intelligence officer from the Bengal Presidency. Khan, known for his cruelty and his brutal torture methods, was killed in an Anushilan Samiti ambush in September 1932.
Biography[]
Ahsanullah Khan was born in the Bengal Presidency of the British Raj to a Sunni Muslim family of Bengalis, and he joined the Indian Imperial Police's intelligence wing. Khan policed the area around Chittagong, and he was called into town after news of the Chittagong armory raid broke out in 1930. Khan told local villagers that the Anushilan Samiti members were Hindus and that they were the enemies of the local Muslims, and he beat up children when they refused to give up the locations of the Anushilan Samiti rebels. Khan also tortured a young Subodh Roy when he refused to give up the location of Surya Sen and the other Indian Republican Army leaders, leading to the rebels plotting Khan's murder. While riding down a jungle road on his motorcycle, he found the path blocked by two men squatting next to a fallen bicycle. Khan approached them angrily, and the two men drew pistols and shot Khan dead.
