Ahmed Chic Thaa

Ahmed Chic Thaa (died 6 September 1972) was a member of the Black September Organization terrorist group and one of the perpetrators of the Munich Massacre.

Biography[]

Ahmed Chic Thaa was a Palestinian member of the Black September Organization, a terrorist group that sought to attack Israel and the United States to secure Palestinian self-determination violently. In 1972, Ahmed Chic Thaa and six other terrorists entered Munich, Germany, with the goal of kidnapping the Israeli Olympic team and holding them for prisoner exchange with 234 Palestinian prisoners as well as Andreas Baader and Ulrike Meinhof. Thaa used the pseudonym "Abu Halla" to disguise his identity.

On 6 September, German police attempted to free the nine surviving athletes and coaches (two were killed during the hostage-taking), and Thaa and Afif Ahmed Hamid were killed in a jet where they held the two German pilots hostage. However, the whole Israeli Olympic team was massacred by the Palestinians, and Thaa's body was buried with the other four dead terrorists in Libyan Arab Jamahiriya with full military honors.
