Ahmed Amin Hamma (1933-13 December 1947) was a Palestinian teenager who was killed in the Damascus Gate attack of the Palestinian Civil War by Irgun.

Biography[]

Ahmed Amin Hamma was born in 1933 in Jerusalem, Mandatory Palestine, a part of the United Kingdom, to a Muslim Palestinian family. Hamma was only thirteen in 1947 when the Palestinian Civil War began between the Jews on one side and the Arabs and much of the UK's armed forces in the region on the other. Irgun planned a revenge attack for Palestinian atrocities, throwing two bombs at Palestinians at the Damascus Gate bus station in the Old City of Jerusalem and opening fire on crowds. Hamma was killed along with 4 other Arab civilians, and the incident exacerbated tensions between Jews and Arabs.
