Agyrion

Agyrion was a Greek colony in Magna Graecia, now known as Agira in central Sicily. It was founded by the Sicels before becoming a Greek colony, and the Agirians resisted a Carthaginian invasion in 392 BC. In 339 BC, the Corinthian general Timoleon drove out the last tyrant and settled 10,000 Greeks in the city, and it would later be conquered by the Carthaginians and then the Romans during the Punic Wars.
