Agder is a county and historical district in southern Norway. Agder was formerly a petty kingdom, with Agdir as its capital, and its ruler Kjotve the Rich was defeated by Harald Fairhair at the Battle of Hafrsfjordr in 872 during the unification of Norway, leading to Agder's loss of independence. Agder was later divided into Christian parishes, and it became known as Egdafylki and then Agdesiden as a county of the Old Kingdom of Norway. In 2019, Agder had a population of 306,849 people.
