Afghan National Police

The Afghan National Police is the national police force of Afghanistan, originally formed in 1747 during the Hotak dynasty era. The national police served as a single law enforcement agency across the country, with the Ministry of Interior Affairs managing the ANP. The current ANP was organized in 2001 after the NATO invasion of Afghanistan and the overthrow of the Taliban regime, and the police force was trained by police forces from the United States, Germany, and the United Kingdom. In September 2013, the police force had 157,000 members.
