Aethelric of Deira (580-604) was King of Deira from 588 to 604, succeeding Aella of Deira and preceding Aethelfrith.
Biography[]
Aethelric was born in York, Yorkshire, England in 580, the son of King Aella of Deira. He succeeded his father as King of Deira at the age of 8, and he fathered the future Edwin of Northumbria. In 604, he was killed in battle with King Aethelfrith of Bernicia, who proceeded to rule over a united Deira and Bernicia.
