Aethelberht II of East Anglia (750-794) was King of East Anglia from 779 to 794, succeeding Aethelred I and preceding Eadwald.
Biography[]
Aethelberht was born in East Anglia in 750, the son of King Aethelred I of East Anglia. He reluctantly married the daughter of King Offa of Mercia, and his father-in-law and overlord stopped him from minting his own coins. His mother-in-law convinced Offa to bind and behead Aethelberht during a trip to visit his wife in 794.
