Aeropas was the younger brother of Gauanes and the older brother of Perdiccas I of Macedon. Descendants of the legendary Dorian warrior Temerus, they were exiled from Argos in the late 8th century BC and forced to settle in rural Macedonia. After Perdiccas united the Macedonian tribes and founded the kingdom of Macedon, Aeropas became the ruler of Lynkestis.
