Aelle of Exanceaster (1035-1066) was an Anglo-Saxon general in the service of England at the time of the Norman conquest of England. In 1066, he led a fyrd out of Exeter to take on William FitzOsbern's Norman army as it invaded the West Country, meeting FitzOsbern at the Battle of Tiverton. In the ensuing battle, Aelle was slain by the Normans and his army destroyed.
