Aelfgarstun

Aelfgarstun was a small village located in central Lincolnshire, England during the Middle Ages. It was named for its owner, thegn Aelfgar of Gainsborough, who presided over the growth of vast cropfields. In 875, the estate was raided by soldiers loyal to Bishop Herefrith of Lincoln, who sought to remove Aelfgar from contention at the upcoming shiremoot. Aelfgar, with the help of the Viking warrior Eivor, slew all of the attackers and helped him put out as many fires as he could.
