
Aedanus Burke (16 June 1743 – 30 March 1802) was a member of the US House of Representatives (DR-SC 2) from 4 March 1789 to 3 March 1791, preceding Robert Barnwell.
Biography[]
Aedanus Burke was born in Tiaquin, County Galway, Ireland in 1743, and he later immigrated to Charleston, South Carolina and served in the state militia during the American Revolutionary War. He opposed the US Constitution, and he went on to serve as a Democratic-Republican member of the US House of Representatives from 1789 to 1791, and he served as an appellate courts judge until his death in 1802.
