Pedro de Noronha

Adriano de Moura, 1st Count of Moura (1829—1895) was a Portuguese admiral who served under King Carlos I of Portugal as the commander-in-chief of the Portuguese Navy. Considered a rising star due to his successful military career and skill as an officer, he eventually obtained the highest post in the navy in 1889 after the death of King Luís I of Portugal. For his service King Carlos granted him a noble title. He took oversaw some colonial expansion in Africa, in which the brown water navy played a role, before retiring in 1894 and being replaced by Admiral Alexandre Keil.
