Adriano Celentano

Adriano Celentano (born 6 January 1938) was an Italian singer-songwriter, actor, and filmmaker from Milan, Lombardy. Born in Milan to parents from Foggia, Apulia, Celentano became a rock musician in 1957, and he became a popular musician as well as television actor and film director during the 1960s, retaining his popularity for over five decades. Celentano was a devout Roman Catholic and a liberal-conservative who wrote a song called "Chi non lavora non fa l' amore" ("Who does not work does not make love") during the early 1970s, criticizing labor strikes and the political left. During the 1990s, he supported Silvio Berlusconi and was a Pannella List candidate for the Chamber of Deputies at the 1994 general election.
