
Adrian Gouffier de Boissy (1479-1523) was a French cardinal of the Catholic Church. He was a member of the noble Gouffier family of Boissy and Bonnivet.
Biography[]
Adrian Gouffier de Boissy was a member of the Gouffier family, and he was the brother of Artus Gouffier de Boissy and Guillaume Gouffier de Bonnivet. He became a protonotary apostolic of the Catholic Church at the age of 14 and became dean of Thouars in 1503. In 1510, he became Bishop of Coutances, occupying the see until 1519. In 1515, King Francis I of France persuaded Pope Leo X to make Gouffier a Cardinal, and he became Grand Almoner of France in 1516. He served as Papal legate in France from 1519 to 1520, and he died in 1523.
