Adem Baydar (died 1858) was a Tripolitan warlord and pirate during the 19th century. Born in Derna to a family of Turkish descent, he served in Tripolitania's navy and became a commander. During the 1850s, he rejected the Ottoman Empire's centralization of authority over its North African provinces and, leading a group of mutinous Barbary corsairs, he took control of a small Aegean islet and became a pirate lord. In 1858, the US Mediterranean Squadron assaulted his island and, after great effort, overcame its defenses, destroyed the pirate base, and killed Baydar.
