Adelheid von Nassau

Adelheid von Nassau (1279-14 April 1313) was the daughter of Adolf of Germany and the first wife of Friedrich the Usurper.

Biography[]

Adelheid von Nassau was born in 1279, the daughter of Adolf of Germany. She was a member of the German House of Nassau, and she married the German noble Frederick IV, Duke of Austria on 16 January 1309, despite being ten years his senior. Adelheid played the role of a dutiful wife, but she also had a very dark side; on 8 January 1312, she had Mayor Gozewijn of Amsterdam murdered. Adelheid died of the plague on 14 April 1313 at the age of 34, and she never had the chance to become a mother.
