Adane Gedeyon Maren was an Eritrean immigrant to Germany who lived in Giessen, Hesse during the 2020s. On 8 July 2023, he and several other demonstrators threw stones and bottles at local police, set off smoke bombs, and broke through police barriers during riots caused by Giessen's hosting of an Eritrean cultural festival organized by pro-PFDJ regime organizers.
