Adam Schiff

Adam Bennett Schiff (born 22 June 1960) was a member of the US House of Representatives (D-CA 27) from 3 January 2001 to 3 January 2003 (succeeding James E. Rogan and preceding Brad Sherman), from CA 29 from 3 January 2003 to 3 January 2013 (succeeding Henry Waxman and preceding Tony Cardenas), and from CA 28 from 3 January 2013 to 13 December 2024 (succeeding Howard Berman and preceding Laura Friedman). He also served as a US Senator from 13 December 2024, succeeding Laphonza Butler.

Biography[]

Adam Schiff was born in Framingham, Massachusetts in 1960 to a Jewish family, and he worked as a prosecutor in Los Angeles. He then became an Assistant US Attorney, and he was elected to the US House of Representatives in 2000. Schiff voted in favor of the Iraq War, supported the recognition of the Armenian Genocide, surveillance reforms, freedom of the press, the Saudi Arabian intervention in Yemen, voted on a war authorization against the Islamic State, and took part in the investigation into Donald Trump's ties to Russia. In 2024, he was elected to the US Senate after defeating the progressive Katie Porter in the primary.
