Adam Parks

Adam Parks was a British soldier who served as a Lieutenant in the British Army during World War II. On 4 June 1940, while being evacuated from Dunkirk, Parks' transport ship was sunk, and a shell-shocked Parks sat atop the sinking hulk until Captain Mark Dawson of the Moonstone picked up Parks on his way to rescue other trapped British soldiers from Dunkirk. Captain Dawson, his son Peter Dawson, and their hand George Mills gave Parks tea and had him stay downstairs, but, when Parks realized that the boat was headed towards Dunkirk, his PTSD led to him violently attempting to wrest control of the boat's steering wheel from Captain Dawson. During the ensuing scuffle, he inadvertently knocked Mills down a staircase, fatally injuring him. Parks then snapped out of his episode, and he later asked if Mills was alright; Peter lied and said that Mills had improved, even while Mills had succumbed to his injuries. Parks and several other soldiers rescued by the Moonstone ultimately returned to England in safety.
