Adam Laxalt

Adam Laxalt (31 August 1978-) was the Republican Attorney General of Nevada from 5 January 2015 to 7 January 2019, succeeding Catherine Cortez Masto and preceding Aaron Ford.

Biography[]

Adam Laxalt was born in Reno, Nevada in 1978, the illegitimate son of Republican US Senator from New Mexico Pete Domenici and the daughter of US Senator from Nevada Paul Laxalt; he was raised by his mother, and his parentage was not acknowledged until 2013. He became a lawyer in 2005, served in the US Navy from 2005 to 2010, and worked at the office of US Senator John Warner in Washington DC before returning to Reno to practice law. In 2014, he was elected Attorney General of Nevada, and he opposed LGBT people serving openly in the military, opposed DACA, opposed employees' rights to overtime pay, opposed red flag laws, restricted abortion, and supported the secrecy of political donations. He failed in his 2018 gubernatorial bid, and he also failed to secure Donald Trump's victory in Nevada during the 2020 presidential election while serving as Nevada co-chairman of Trump's re-election bid. In 2022, he ran for the US Senate, claiming that "the radical left, rich elites, woke corporations, academia, and the media" were taking over America.
