Adam Kinzinger (born 27 February 1978) was a member of the US House of Representatives (R-IL 11) from 3 January 2011 to 3 January 2013, succeeding Debbie Halvorson and preceding Bill Foster, and from IL 16 from 3 January 2013 to 3 January 2023, succeeding Don Manzullo and preceding Darin LaHood.

Biography[]

Adam Kinzinger was born in Kankakee, Illinois in 1978, and he was elected to the McLean County Board in 1998. He served on the board until 2003, when he joined the US Air Force and served in the Afghanistan War and the Iraq War, rising to the rank of Major. In 2010, he was elected to the US House of Representatives, serving as a Republican Party member. On 14 February 2019, as a member of the Air National Guard, he was deployed to the US-Mexico border to help keep out undocumented immigrants. He became a fierce critic of President Donald Trump for his incitement of the 2021 United States coup d'etat attempt, and he was also one of only 10 Republicans to vote in favor of Trump's second impeachment on 13 January 2021. Kinzinger continued to serve as a voice of moderation in the Republican Party until his retirement in 2022.
