Achaia

Achaia was a province of the Roman Empire and theme of the Byzantine Empire that existed from 146 BC until the 12th century. Corresponding to the present-day region of Achaea in Greece, Achaia was one of the most prosperous and peaceful regions of the Roman Empire, but in the 6th century the region was devastated by invading Slavs. The region's capital was Corinth.
