Abubakar Shakib (17 August 1927-18 October 1999) was an imam from Palestine.
Biography[]
Abubakar Shakib was born in Abu Dis, Palestine on 17 August 1927, coming from a Sunni Muslim family. Abubakar was the son of Ibrahim Aziz Shakib, and he became an imam unlike his businessman father. Shakib served as imam of the mosque in Abu Dis for many years, and his daughter Fatima Shakib would marry Abdulrahman Ahmed, who would become another imam in the town of Abu Dis. Shakib did not share his son-in-law's radical views, and he often argued with his son about his radical views. Abubakar became a hafiz later in life, and he was revered as a wise man by the people of the village of Abu Dis. He died in 1999 at the age of 72.
