Abu al-Asbat al-Sudani

Ali Abdel Maarouf (died 6 August 2017), also known as Abu al-Asbat al-Sudani, was a Sudanese jihadist who served as the Islamic State's head of prisons. In 2015, he was one of 70 Sudanese to join ISIL abroad, and he became a leading martial arts and weapons trainer, having been a former karateka. He went on to become a top legislator for the Islamic State, but he was killed by Iraqi security forces during a clearing operation in Mosul in the aftermath of the July 2017 liberation of Mosul by the Iraqi government.
