Abu Jamal al-Faransi

Abu Jamal al-Faransi (2 July 1989 – 17 June 2015) was a fighter of the Islamic State from France.

Biography[]

Rahman Matin was born on 2 July 1989 in Romainville, France, to a family of Muslims that emigrated from Morocco. Matin became a radical Islamist and decided to join the Islamic State after entering Syria through Turkey, and he became one of France's 1,200 foreign fighters in ISIS. On 17 June 2015 he detonated a suicide belt in Ramadi, killing a few Iraqi Army soldiers.
