Abu Hakim al-Hafiz (5 November 1972-9 February 2015) was a commander of Hezbollah

Biography[]

Abu Hakim al-Hafiz was born in the Sidon District of Lebanon on 5 November 1972 to a Shi'ite Muslim family. He memorized the Qur'an (he became a hafiz), and he grew into a radical Muslim. In 1990 he joined Hezbollah and assisted in the destruction of the South Lebanon Army of Christians during the Lebanese Civil War, and al-Hafiz became a leader of Hezbollah army units stationed in Beirut. During the Syrian Civil War, he was involved with fighting against the Sunni insurgents, and al-Hafiz was killed in a bombing in Damascus by Jaysh al-Islam on 9 February 2015.
