
Abu Hafs al-Urduni (1973-26 November 2006), born Farid Yusef Umeira, was a Jordanian leader of the Mujahideen in Chechnya who fought in the Soviet-Afghan War, Tajik War, and Chechen Wars.
Biography[]
Farid Yusef Umeira was born in Jordan in 1973 and fought in the Soviet-Afghan War while a young adult, aiding the Mujahideen against the Soviet Union's invasion. He fought alongside Ibn al-Khattab and Abu al-Walid, and the three later fought in Central Asia, before heading to Chechnya. He succeeded al-Walid upon his death in battle in 2004, becoming the new Mujahideen in Chechnya leader.
Death[]
The Russian FSB, tracking down Caucasian terrorists, attacked al-Urduni's entourage in Khasav-Yurt. He was killed along with four other Chechen terrorists in a battle that lasted for hours. Muhannad became the new Mujahideen leader.
