Abu Faraj al-Libi, born Mustafa Faraj Muhammad Muhammad Masud al-Jadid al-Uzaybi, was a Libyan member of al-Qaeda.
Biography[]
Abu Faraj al-Libi was born in Libya, and he became a member of al-Qaeda. al-Libi became al-Qaeda's director of operations in and Osama Bin Laden's "number three" in 2003 (after Khalid Sheikh Mohammed's arrest), and he was living in Karte Parwan, Kabul, Afghanistan by 2000. On 2 May 2005, he was captured by Pakistani ISI agents wearing burqas, and he was interrogated by the CIA due to his status as a contact of Abu Ahmed al-Kuwaiti, Osama Bin Laden's courier. al-Libi was subsequently interned at Guantanamo Bay.
