Abu Da'as is a member of Ziad Alouki's Sunni militia in the Bab al-Tabbaneh neighborhood of Tripoli, Lebanon and a veteran of the Lebanese Civil War.
Biography[]
Abu Da'as was from a Sunni Muslim family in Tripoli, Lebanon, and he fought alongside Ziad Alouki against Syria during the Lebanese Civil War, spending time in Hafez al-Assad's prisons. Abu Da'as, like Alouki, respected Saddam Hussein and other Sunni leaders, and Abu Da'as was hesitant to be interviewed by the foreign press when he was featured in the "Warlords of Tripoli" documentary by Vice News. He was shown in the video firing at Alawites in Jabal Mohsen along with other Sunni militiamen during the long conflict between the two neighborhoods.
