Abu Amer al-Najdi

Abu Amer al-Najdi (died 22 May 2015) was a soldier of the Islamic State who was responsible for the Qatif mosque bombing which killed 30+ people and wounded 50.

Biography[]

Abu Amer al-Najdi was born in Saudi Arabia to a Sunni Muslim family, and he joined the Islamic extremist group Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), which later renamed itself to "the Islamic State" and proclaimed itself the new Islamic caliphate. al-Najdi pledged allegiance to the new caliph, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, and was sent to blow up the Imam Ali mosque in Qatif. He wore a suicide belt to the prayers and detonated it, killing over 30 people and wounding 50 in a suicide bombing targeting the Shi'ite minority in Saudi Arabia.
