Abram Poindexter Maury (26 December 1801-22 July 1848) was a member of the US House of Representatives (W-TN 8) from 4 March 1835 to 3 March 1839, succeeding David W. Dickinson and preceding Meredith Poindexter Gentry.
Biography[]
Abram Poindexter Maury was born in Franklin, Tennessee in 1801, and he became a newspaper editor in St. Louis, Missouri at the age of 16. He prematurely left West Point in 1821 to edit a newspaper in Nashville, and he served in the State House from 1831 to 1832 and from 1843 to 1844, in the US House of Representatives from 1835 to 1839, and in the State Senate from 1845 to 1846. He died in 1848.
