Abraham McClellan (4 October 1789-3 May 1866) was a member of the US House of Representatives (D-TN 2) from 4 March 1837 to 3 March 1843 (succeeding Samuel Bunch and preceding William Tandy Senter).
Biography[]
Abraham McClellan was born in Sullivan County, Tennessee in 1789, and he worked as a farmer before serving in the State House from 1823 to 1825 and from 1827 to 1829, in the State Senate from 1829 to 1833, and in the US House of Representatives from 1837 to 1843; he also commanded a militia company in the Second Seminole War. He was defeated for renomination by Andrew Johnson in 1843.
