
Abraham Buford II (18 January 1820-9 June 1884) was a Confederate States Army brigadier-general who served in the American Civil War.
Biography[]
Abraham Buford II was born in Woodford County, Kentucky, the great-nephew of Abraham Buford and the cousin of John Buford and Napoleon Bonaparte Buford. He graduated from West Point in 1841 before serving in the Mexican-American War and in the New Mexico Territory until his retirement to Versailles, Kentucky in 1854. During the American Civil War, Buford became a Confederate brigadier-general and fought in the Vicksburg campaign, the Battle of Tupelo, the Franklin-Nashville campaign, and against Wilson's Raid. After the war, he bred thoroughbreds on his Kentucky farm and died in 1884.
