Abraham Bedford Venable (20 November 1758 – 26 December 1811) was a member of the US House of Representatives from Virginia's 6th district from 4 March 1791 to 3 March 1793 (interrupting Isaac Coles' terms) and from the 7th district from 4 March 1793 to 3 March 1799 (succeeding John Page and preceding John Randolph), as well as a US Senator from 7 December 1803 to 7 June 1804 (succeeding John Taylor and preceding William Branch Giles). He was a Democratic-Republican.
Biography[]
Abraham Bedford Venable was born in Prince Edward County, Virginia in 1758, and he graduated from Princeton in 1780 and worked as a planter. He then served in the US House of Representatives from 1791 to 1799 and in the US Senate from 1803 to 1804, resigning in 1804 to become President of the Bank of Virginia. He died in 1811 in a theater fire in Richmond, Virginia, dying alongside Governor George William Smith.
