Abraham Andrews Barker

Abraham Andrews Barker (30 March 1816 – 18 March 1898) was a member of the US House of Representatives (R-PA 17) from 4 March 1865 to 3 March 1867, succeeding Archibald McAllister and preceding Daniel J. Morrell.

Biography[]

Abraham Andrews Barker was born in Lovell, Maine in 1816, and he engaged in farming and the part-production industry before moving to Carrolltown, Pennsylvania in 1854 and then to Ebensburg. He served as a railroad president before serving in the US House of Representatives from 1865 to 1867, and he defected to the Prohibition Party in 1876 and served as the president of its Pennsylvania chapter from 1878 to 1882. He died in 1898.
