Abner Coburn

Abner Coburn (22 March 1803-4 January 1885) was the Republican Governor of Maine from 7 January 1863 to 6 January 1864, succeeding Israel Washburn Jr. and preceding Samuel Cony.

Biography[]

Abner Coburn was born in Skowhegan, Maine in 1803, and he was a Whig before joining the Republican Party. He served in the State House from 1860 to 1863 and as Governor from 1863 to 1864, and later in the banking and railroad industries. He died in 1885.
