Abner C. Harding

Abner Clark Harding (10 February 1807 – 19 July 1874) was a member of the US House of Representatives (R-IL 4) from 4 March 1865 to 3 March 1869, succeeding Charles M. Harris and preceding John B. Hawley.

Biography[]

Abner Clark Harding was born in East Hampton, Connecticut in 1807, and he practiced law in Oneida County before moving to Monmouth, Illinois in 1838. He served in the State House from 1848 to 1850, as a Union Army Brigadier-General during the American Civil War, and in the US House of Representatives from 1865 to 1869. He died in 1874.
