Abelardo Montalvo

Abelardo Montalvo (13 March 1876-1 December 1950) was President of Ecuador from 17 October 1933 to 31 August 1934, succeeding Juan de Dios Martinez and preceding Jose Maria Velasco Ibarra.

Biography[]

Abelardo Montalvo was born in Guayaquil, Ecuador in 1876, and he practiced law before joining the Ecuadorian Radical Liberal Party. He served as a law professor before becoming President in 1933 on Juan de Dios Martinez's deposition by congress. Montalvo stayed on as acting president until Jose Maria Velasco Ibarra's election.
