Abe Fairfield (1811-1865) was an American bounty hunter who was active in Missouri during the American Civil War. In 1865, shortly after the war's end, he and Lige Kelrey became bounty hunters and were hired to track down and capture or kill the wanted former bushwhacker Josey Wales. They ambushed him and his accomplice Jamie Bottoms at their rural camp, but a wounded and seemingly delirious Bottoms shot Kelrey with a gun hidden under his blanket, while Wales shot Fairfield twice in the chest, killing him as well.
