Abdut Tawwab Mona (died 1191) was a general of the Ayyubid Caliphate.
Biography[]
Abdut Tawwab Mona was one of the generals of the Ayyubid Caliphate Caliph Salah ad-Din, who positioned him as the commander of Egyptian forces in the city of Jerusalem. He served under Majd ud-Din, the regent of Jerusalem, while Salah ad-Din was on campaign against the Third Crusade.
In 1191, assassin Altair Ibn-La'Ahad attempted to infiltrate the city, but he first had to assassinate the guards. Mona stood on a platform outside the city and addressed a crowd of around ten Saracen soldiers, so Altair grabbed his mouth from behind and stabbed him in the back with his hidden blades. Surprisingly, his men did not react.
