Biogrpahy[]

Abdullah Hammoud was born in Dearborn, Michigan to a Lebanese Shia Muslim family. After working as a healthcare advisor, he was elected to the State House in 2017, defeating WWE wrestler Terrance Guido Gerin ("Rhyno") by a margin of 61% to 38%. Hammoud became the first Arab and Muslim to represent that district, and he backed Bernie Sanders' 2020 presidential bid and called for President Joe Biden to reevaluate the United States-Israel relationship. He was elected Mayor of Dearborn in 2021, becoming its first Arab and Muslim mayor. In 2024, Hammoud refused to meet with Biden campaign staff during the presidential election and instead called on Democratic primary voters to vote "uncommitted" instead of for Biden.
