The Abdullah Azzam Brigades was a Sunni Islamist militant group in Lebanon affiliated with al-Qaeda. Founded in 2009 by Saleh al-Qaraawi, the brigades are divided into the Ziad Jarrah Battalion in Lebanon, Yusef al-Ayeri Battalions in Saudi Arabia, and Marwan Haddad Division in the Gaza Strip, and many non-related groups in other countries such as Pakistan and Egypt also use Abdullah Azzam's name in their titles to commemorate the al-Qaeda leader. Its Gaza branch carried out attacks against Israel, while its Lebanese branch fought against Hezbollah and the government.
