Abdul Hadi al-Iraqi (1961-), born Nashwan Abdulrazaq Abdulbaqi, was the Internal Operations Chief of Al-Qaeda and one of the top deputies of Osama bin Laden.
Biography[]
Nashwan Abdulrazaq Abdulbaqi was originally a Major in the Iraqi Army, but he later joined the Afghan Mujahideen during the Soviet-Afghan War. He facilitated communication between Al-Qaeda in Iraq and Afghanistan as the Internal Operations Chief, and also monitored Al-Qaedan operations in his home country. He also served as the direct operational commander of the elite 055 Brigade. In 2007, he was captured by the United States and detained in Guantanamo Bay.
