Biography[]

Abdoullakh Abouyedovich Anzorov was born in Moscow, Russia in 2002, the son of Chechen immigrants from Shalazhi. His family moved to France when he was six, and he was raised in Evreux. His half-sister joined the Islamic State in 2014, and he was charged with several minor misdemeanors himself. He later became a radical Salafist, coming into contact with Tahrir al-Sham fighters in Syria. In October 2020, motivated by a presentation delivered by his local imam harshly criticizing local history teacher Samuel Paty for showing blasphemous depictions of Muhammad during a lesso non free speech, Anzorov decided to become a shahid (jihadist martyr) and kill the teacher himself. Anzorov made a video claiming responsibility for the attack and mentioning IS, and, on 16 October 2020, he stalked Paty as he left his school and repeatedly stabbed him and beheaded him at 5:00 PM. He then posted a photo of the severed head to Instagram and threatened Emmanuel Macron, calling Paty one of his "hellhounds". Anzorov was tracked down to Eragny by police, and he shot at the police with an air rifle and tried to stab them with a knife before being shot nine times and killed.
